Mentor????

MENTOR - a deliberate transfer of wisdom from one person to another with an emphasis on credibility, integrity, authenticity and experience (ability) with the full knowledge that it will cost time, energy, and emotion in the process.

I think Jesus called this discipleship. QUESTION: Are we willing to enter this process with people? Or do we just want to give some psycho-babble sermon that says ABC, 123, or read this book - SHAZAM!!! You are all better now.

Let me know what you think . . . more to come.

Ed,

I believe in what this is about. I think that in the near future there will be a separation in Ministries and Ministers by who is willing to go the distance. Doing the miracles is one thing. But, who is willing to grab the old white towel and do the dirty work.

Right on!

is there really any other way to truely see change in people and growth in your ministry? I have never found a short cut - my husband and I live by the saying "if you take short cuts you get cut short". Maybe thats why there are so few really changed people - a lot of ministers taking short cuts. When you are in ministry, weather its childrens, youth our adults, building disciples and mentoring have to be in the core foundation. If not your just puttin on a nice show - thats my 2 cents anyway -

I am a TURE product of Mentorship - Investment - Descipleship - whatever you want to call it - someone spent a LOT of TIME, LOVE, MONEY & BELIEFE on me! I am forever thank full that they did - now its my turn.

Christi :)

Ed, I believe mentoring is key to lasting growth... For the masses it may be some ABC's and 123's, but along the way I believe God leads us to those we can mentor or those we should hook up with to be mentored by. As leaders of organizations, knowing we can't personally mentor all those we meet, we can mentor those around us and set up ways for all those effected by our organization to be mentored as well (small groups, cell groups, bible studies, etc...). Seems like if you have the vision for discipleship, God will show you how to set up your organization so that everyone benefits without you being stretched too thin...

I think you have been a great mentor and you have allowed yourself to be mentored and continue to. I believe the key is that you can't be afraid of relationships. You ARE NOT! I love getting to see all of the results of great relationships that you have invested so much in. I need to be better at this for sure!
